Exeter Public Library has created, as part of the Nancy Carnegie Merrill Historical Room, a new Digital Conversion Center with machines able to convert analog film, audio, and photos to digital content. Digital Preservation Center Do you have a box of old film reels, slides, photos, CDs, VHS, camcorder tapes, and DVDs? Wonder what's on that strip of negatives you found at the bottom of a draw? Sharper Image Rapid Photo Album Scanner This scanner allows you to digitize photos, slides, and 35mm negatives. You can automatically or manually edit the exposure and RGB color to bring faded images back to life. Can be connected to a computer. MYPIN Cassette Tape Converter This device will let you transfer cassette tapes to a USB stick in MP3 format. It can also be used to listen to cassette tapes out loud or with headphones. Canon Microfilm Scanner 400 This device will let you view and make copies of microfilm files. This includes the Library's collection of the Exeter News-Letter. Bluetooth Turntable Player This turntable will let you play 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM vinyl records. It has a built-in speaker or can be wirelessly paired to speakers or headphones using Bluetooth. CD/DVD External Drive This device will let you record data onto or read data from CDs or DVDs. It connects to a computer using a USB cable and works as though it were built into the computer. Wayback Machine The Wayback Machine is an incredible digital time machine, created by the Internet Archive, that lets you travel back in time to see what websites looked like in the past. It's like flipping through the archives of the internet. You can type in a URL and see snapshots of the site from different points in time. Laptops for Use in the Library Laptop Checkout Policy Internet Access Policy The library has 10 laptops you can checkout in-house. Please read the Internet Access Policy and the Laptop Checkout Policy for information before checking out a laptop. Patrons may use our laptops to browse the internet, send and read email, check their Facebook account, research and apply for jobs, create and print letters and documents, and many other tasks. Patrons are advised to delete any files they save to the computers to maintain their privacy. Most thumb drives may be used to save your work on the laptop. WiFi at the library The library supplies Wifi for patrons who bring their own devices to the library. There is a password required to connect to the library's Wifi. It is posted throughout the library. The staff is also there to assist you. Printing at the library Patrons can print from the library's public internet laptops or from their own devices. The library has 3 printers; two in Adult Services and one in the Children's Room: Black and white prints cost 25 cents, color prints cost 75 cents. Cash or check are accepted. No Credit cards please! Pay at the Information desk. Adult Services Printers - one HP that prints in black and white, and a Brothers printer for color, scanning, and emailing documents. Faxing documents is not applicable, but we can assist you with changing a document into a PDF to email out. Children's Room Printer - HP color printer can print in black and white and color
